In 2010, Right to Life of Summit County merged with Right to Life of Portage County to form Right to Life of Northeast Ohio.   Each county has retained their own presence as a chapter, but we now work together as a more powerful entity in the mission to protect the sanctity of human life from conception to natural death.

Our work to protect life is on-going. Through our non-stop outreach efforts supported by our members and donors, we’ve made considerable progress.   Did you know that:

·         Locally, abortions in Summit County have decreased by 24% since 20091

·   Recent national polls show that for the first time since abortion was made legal, more than 63% of our country identify themselves as pro-life, instead of pro-choice.

·    The number of abortions performed in the United States has been steadily decreasing since 1990.2

·    2/3 of all abortion clinics in the United States have closed since 19913

Our work is far from over.  Now that the national health care bill has passed, more federal dollars than ever will be going directly to pro-choice groups such as Planned Parenthood despite the 11th hour “executive order” against federal funding for abortion. This order does not correct any of the serious pro-abortion provisions in the bill.  By law, the president cannot amend a bill by issuing an order, and the federal courts will enforce what the law says.

We also need to work harder than ever to protect those near the end of life.   Dr. Zeke Emmanuel, an Obama appointee for health care research, has stated that national health care dollars will be rationed to those in the middle of life, and those near the end of life would receive less benefits—essentially saying that unproductive members of society are a burden and healthcare dollars can be better spent elsewhere. Right to Life of Northeast Ohio pledges to continue building a culture of life where human life is not judged on a “cost basis analysis of living”, but instead is treated as the miracle that God intended.

Right to Life of Northeast Ohio works as a leader with pro-life groups from churches and organizations throughout the area and offers unifying programs as part of the strategies named above to one day bring and end to the horror of legal abortion, and to continue to protect all life through natural death.
